The Art.
SOM Wines are inspired by the best of American terroir. We wanted to embody this on our labels, so we partnered with the talented, Darcy Edwin to capture the topographical map of each vineyard.
For our latest Brut label we leaned into the watercolor talents of Diana Bizjak to capture a main tasting note: stone fruit!

Meet the Artist Behind Our Labels -Darcy Edwin
Darcy is originally from St. Louis (where she and Michael met through his sister). In 2010 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from St. Louis University. Darcy works in printmaking, mixed media and painting. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. From 2015-2018 Darcy mentored under world renowned relief printmaker, Tom Huck at Evil Prints. She also has curated and helped run print exhibits. Most recently she co-curated an exchange of 12 artists (US & Mexico) that will be exhibited around the US (and hopefully internationally too!). One of the things that makes Darcy’s work so unique is she helps guide artistic concepts into the best medium to fully express the narrative. We have found her expertise in choosing the medium to really impact our final piece. We’re so grateful to work with her!
Darcy lives in Austin, Texas with her husband of nine years Eddie, their two toddler boys, and two dogs. She credits Eddie for giving her the confidence to leave her job and pursue art full time in 2018.

Meet the Artist Behind Our Brut - Diana Bizjak
Though a social worker by day, Diana’s true passions also lie in food, drinks, and the arts. The daughter of two writers, Diana has found herself dabbling in food and wine writing for publications in her hometown of Sacramento, CA. She later took up watercolor as a hobby and came to love the expressiveness, fluidity, and unpredictable charm of the medium. If not painting or writing, she’s most likely to be found working in the kitchen on her viennoiserie craft or twirling around a ballroom dance hall. Diana now lives in Napa with her husband, Winemaker Marc Gagnon.
Diana painted these stacked donut peaches when Michael mentioned the juicy stone fruit being a key tasting note in SOM’s latest sparkler. Diana wanted the peaches to not only evoke the palate of the wine but also its spirit—fun, lively, the summer season in a glass.
